Loving and Hating the Police

Violence, Authority and the Paradox of Order Oct 20, 2026 · @Prasanna If there is space for violence, the answer has always been yes, however in any discussion of social and political progress, one hard truth is usually brushed aside: violence has always shaped the world. Nations are born out of conflict. The great leaps toward freedom and rights have rarely happened through pure pacifism. Even in a democracy, where we rightly champion the rule of law and peaceful debate, violence does not disappear. It is institutionalised. (Except perhaps feminist movement) An army holds that violence for use against external enemies across clear borders. Inside the nation, the same burden falls on the police, and there it is far more difficult and ambiguous. What is the police for: to protect law and order, to prevent crime, or to keep society stable? If it is all of these, what powers should it have, how much of it do we need, and whom is it really protecting? This essay argues that the polic...

The Envy, we deny, we are shamed.

The Hidden Cost of Denying Competition in the Social Sector In the social sector, we are conditioned to view competition as a dirty word. The prevailing ethos suggests that competing is inherently selfish and entirely counter-intuitive to the nature of social work. After all, a social worker’s primary duty is to keep the beneficiary’s best interests at heart. A beneficiary is not a customer to be won, but a vulnerable individual or community to be served. Because our mission is noble, we assume our operating environment must be entirely selfless. But this ideal creates a dangerous blind spot. It doesn't erase human nature—it merely forces it underground. The Mutation of Denied Competition Competitiveness is a fundamental human trait. The problem in the NGO and social sector isn't that competition exists; the problem is the steadfast denial of it. When we refuse to acknowledge our competitive instincts, they do not simply disappear. Instead, they mutate into destructive unconsci...

DELIMITATION, THE BJP, AND THE LONG GAME The Southern Pillar: Why the BJP Cannot afford to Betray the South

DELIMITATION, THE BJP, AND THE LONG GAME The Southern Pillar Why the BJP Cannot, afford to, Betray the South The 2026 delimitation debate is consumed by one fear — that the BJP will use redrawn boundaries to reduce Southern India to a political footnote. This argument misreads the electoral arithmetic, the RSS’s civilizational DNA, India’s Muslim demography, the tribal frontier, and the succession anxiety that make the South not a choice but a structural necessity for any serious national force. OPINION · POLITICAL ANALYSIS DELIMITATION · BJP-RSS STRATEGY · HINDU DEMOGRAPHY · TRIBAL POLITICS · INDIAN FEDERALISM THE COMPLETE ARGUMENT — SIX CONVERGING PILLARS 01 The North alone cannot deliver a permanent majority 02 Muslim consolidation breaks Northern arithmetic 03 Tribal investment opens Southern entry points 04 RSS DNA demands civilizational completeness 05 Kashmir proves cost tolerance for unity 06 Succession fear forces long-term integration The fear is not unreasonable on its fa...

Reflection: On Death and Dependency

The Lessons of Loss Irvin Yalom suggested that we deal with the fear of death by ignoring it or by trying to find meaning through work. Recently, I’ve had to stop ignoring it. Losing friends every year brings a different kind of closure each time, and it has made me weigh my own life differently. I think of three friends in particular:  * One saw death as a celebration, a way to end the cycle of *karma*. Ironically, this maharder to save the lives of thousands of children.  * Another died suddenly while running—an active life, deeply concerned with the world, even while struggling with depression.  * A third had a gift for making every person feel like they were his best friend. It was pleasurethat wights heavy to read the obituaries. It is not of greatness, it is gentleness and care that stoodout  All three had one thing in common: their relationships were personal and filled with deep affection. The Fear of Dependency I used to wish for a death so silent that no on...

here and now

Here and Now When the memory fades, Ambition retreats. Here i am, in this moment. When present is the only truth. And time never stills. Here i am in between. When I see as it is. I am blind as ever. Here i am holding it. When I live moment by moment. I am no one, now and then. Here i am dying again. When the moment is stretched Heart is wide Here i am tumbling

The Broken Trust: The Hindu's fear

The Question Beneath the Question In contemporary social discourse, "Islamophobia" is often categorized simply as irrational prejudice — a pathology to be condemned and dismissed. But dismissal is not diagnosis. To understand why communal tension persists in India, and why it periodically erupts into violence, we must ask a harder question: **why does trust break?** Trust between communities doesn't break randomly. It breaks along specific, identifiable fault lines — and in India today, several are operating simultaneously, feeding each other in ways that make the situation feel intractable. At the center of this breakdown is something deceptively simple: **fear that has never been given precise language.** Unexpressed fear doesn't dissolve. It deforms. It becomes contempt, then caricature, then violence. The architecture of anxiety in India is built not from hatred alone, but from legitimate fears that were never named honestly, expectations that were never stated cl...
