CWG is like typical indian way to doing things, in fact our story of independence was thing similar to this. we start badly, no body believed we can survive a decade. we some how pull up when needed. i am sure we games will go well. all is well, that ends well i guess.

Yes there will always be a castiest, sexist, racist, linguist, religious angle to a murder. And we all cry for certain type of murder, and for certain kind of people. And we also choose to hear certain type. when i read Y G mahendran post,  he may be right, there is a difference between the murder of a dalit and murder of a brahmin. There will be and should be more voice for dalits, because of sheer number of dalits who gets killed. Very rarely do we see a brahmin killed because of his or her identity.

Gandhi and me

I think for all who have read Gandhi with some amount of seriousness, with out the compulsion of certificate exams, he would have been a greater influence in them. We would be fortunate if we get a chance to read him when we start to understand the world and form opinions about its good, bad and ugly faces. But as a word of caution, reading him at this stage would also restrict our understanding of him. We would by that time have lost faith (God!!!), developed scientific temperament?? Tutored in the possible salvation through Technology etc. Unless we see shortcoming of our lives Gandhi would not make much sense for us. But any way he would start disturbing our soul, (if there is one). The initial years is mostly unlearning what we have learnt or what we think we have learnt, this I think will be the period that would probably be spent in intellectual gymnastics trying to comprehend him with our contemporary civilisational understanding and bring him to the fore of our da...

The cross we can never shed

Brahmin! Who??? TM krishna, i don’t know him much, since i am not into carnatic music, but his recent article in Hindu and his interview, made me notice him for the kind of response he has kindered especially in the social media. Frankly i am not impressed by his article, the importance is more due to his caste and occupation than for his insights.  He is not the first Brahmin and not the last to criticise his own brethren.  It offers no fresh thoughts or insight to the working of Brahmin mind. It is a rehash of what is there in the pop culture of the collective mind.  His reasons why Brahmins support Modi is layman reasons, some of the reasons are ludicrous, especially the Fair skin reason. Seriously?? Brahmin think Modi as one of them because he is fairer???.
