Rethinking MBA

Just read a book Rethinking MBA by three harvard profs. What challenges MBA institutions face in changing world. I saw three interesting challenges/.

Students, business prefer one year course, but want to learn every thing, do every thing and be every thing. though. Fast food feast course. just a reflection of the society. How can one address issue. this is to stay.

 My ideas are;

Select early may be  in graduation. Instead of having entrance test, offer some basic courses online when they are in undergraduation. I think instead of preparing for two years to clear entrance test, it is better to take some basic tests in core MBA subjects.

Career based curriculum: today the curriculum is  functional  or industry based. which require the students to read more subjects which may not be useful directly. One more way of looking for curriculum grading can be career growth based,.for example HR can be graded from entry levels to HR head. ie lessons are based on what would one do in a particular role and integrate as we move to higher roles.

Global perspective: it seems mostly it about acculturation. how do we lead/work with different people. what would be global prespective of India. what will we teach our MBAs. will we teach them how to lead a White man or work with him, will it teach an entreprenuer how to deal with the MNCs and protect your business.

I wonder if any Business school will do a study/teach local business men a strategy to counter say Walmart's competition. I assume we will teach our students how to work in an MNC, for us this is understanding globalisation.

Leadership: difficult i guess,

of the challenges mentioned in the book one puzzled me was unanimous agreement on low level of creativity???? among the MBAs
